The 2025 Kuninkuusravit was held at Oulu's Äimäraution racecourse on 1-3 August. The three-day event attracted around 50 000 visitors and was once again one of the largest public events in Finland.

On the first weekend in August, the eyes of the racing world were on Oulu as the Finnish horses competed for the championship in a tough two-day event. The King and Queen of Horses were decided in three legs: the 2100 metres on Saturday and the 1609 and 3100 metres on Sunday. The horse with the lowest combined time over the three distances won the overall race.

The event was not only a top sporting event, but also a festival for all the people, combining tradition, excitement and modern facilities.

CoreGo solutions streamline the World Cup races

A lot of technology, both visible and invisible, was behind the smooth running of the King's Crossing. CoreGo's solutions played a key role in enabling a smooth event experience:

  • Portable and easy-to-use POS terminals at various points of sale
  • RFID wristbands and payment cards to manage payment and to provide, for example, corporate customers with a single consolidated invoice after the event. Billing cards had a balance and the wristbands could be pre-loaded with, for example, a certain number of drink tickets.
  • A payment network for the entire event area, ensuring seamless payments

Our support staff were also on site to ensure smooth operation and to guide staff in the use of the equipment. Our solutions made payment faster, reduced queues, increased security of management and, with RFID technology, made transactions hassle-free and tracking accurate.

Airi Sallinen, responsible for restaurant operations at Äimäraution Racecourse, comments:

Why did you choose CoreGo as your technology partner for the Kuninkuusrave this year?

"We have been using CoreGo for a year now, and based on our good experience, it was an easy choice."

How was the collaboration with CoreGo before, during and after the event?

"All aspects of the cooperation went well. Especially during the event, the technical support and the network were excellent, with up to 110% reliability. It was also great to have CoreGo as a sponsor of the event in the form of a parasailing trip.

In addition, several operators showed interest in your services during the event, and I have already passed on your contact details to them 😊"

How will the solutions offered by CoreGo - such as cash registers, payment network, on-call service and RFID wristbands/cards - work at the event?

"Everything worked well. Once the staff was trained on how to use the systems, even minor glitches were quickly resolved. Customers were particularly complimentary about the RFID wristbands, which were seen as easy to use, fast and convenient - and not as easy to lose as traditional cards.

There were no problems online. Only the rain on Sunday morning caused temporary contact problems with the POS terminals at the outdoor terminals, but this situation quickly eased as the weather dried up."
